This lovely intimate Whistler wedding was so perfect! The couple had such a calm and loving energy which paired beautifully with the scenery. With the help of Sea to Sky Celebrations, as part of the Small is Beautiful Service, the private dining room at Nita Lake Lodge was transformed into a romantic spot for their ceremony and dinner. With their parents watching, these two said "I Do" to personalized vows elegantly delivered by Jeremy from Whistler Wedding Pastor. Thanks to technology, some family who couldn't make it to the wedding got to enjoy everything as it happened. With the rain falling lightly, we ...

It was so much fun to be part of this surprise marriage proposal in Whistler! It involved lots of planning, making detailed diagrams showing Jon where to stand, secret texts back-and-forth, hiding in the bushes and waiting patiently. And it was so worth it! Jesse was genuinely surprised and she didn't even notice me snapping away. After she said yes, we wandered around Nita Lake Lodge and Alpha Lake for some photos of the newly-engaged couple. They were both beaming from ear-to-ear! They're planning a New Year's Eve wedding back at home in Toronto. I'm sure it'll be one hell of a party!   ...

It doesn't get much more Canadian than this...a pick-up game of ice hockey going on in the background of a couple's wedding photos! With the couple's home team *Go Seahawks* playing a do-or-die game, much of the getting ready time was spent in front of the TV cheering them on. The customized details is what made this wedding their own. With the mountains and skiing being the focus of the couple's destination wedding in Whistler, ski boots were used as vases and Whistler Mountain was the backdrop for their outdoor ceremony. The bride's love of soccer was reflected in her bouquet with ...

When couples plan a winter wedding in Whistler, they're usually hoping for a bit of fresh snow to add that perfect wintery touch. Sometimes though, they get a full blown snow storm like these two did. And it couldn't have been snowing any harder than this! This couple left all the organizing and details up to Sea to Sky Celebrations by booking one of their "Small is Beautiful" elopement packages. They took shelter from the storm in a pretty little cabin for their ceremony. After that it was all about getting out in the snow and having fun! ...

Referrals are such an important part of being a wedding photographer. Of course, that isn't always easy when most of your clients come from out-of-town to get married in Whistler. When I got an email from one of the bride's friends looking for her own photographer, I was thrilled to hear that the couple is still gushing over their photos...2 years later! And that's when I remembered I hadn't blogged this amazing wedding. Like many couples, I didn't get to meet these two before their wedding day since they were living abroad. I had no idea what I was in store for. ...

There was so much laughter! All of us, all day long. I don't know the last time I laughed so hard. The day didn't start off so smoothly though. I experienced a small amount of panic when I showed up to the couple's room at the Four Seasons and realized I would be the one tying up the bride's dress. Sure, I've seen it done before...lots. And I've learned a number of tricks along the way that I have happily shared with others when they're faced with the same task. But coaching someone to do it and actually doing it myself ...

This wedding had such a relaxed and friendly vibe. Anyone willing to dig their freshly painted toes into the beach sand or let the wind tussle their recently styled hair is going to bring wonderfully positive energy to their wedding day! Amy and Jeff made sure their wedding reflected them in so many ways. It was so nice to see how they incorporated lots of personal details. The bride worked so hard on all of them and the groom had an important role too - building the Gelato stand at their Furry Creek ceremony site and making a giant Jenga set to ...

When Rachael from Sea to Sky Celebrations initially contacted me about this wedding, she mentioned there would be a Star Wars theme. Specifically, the officiant would be dressed up as a stormtrooper. For real? Sounds like a fun couple! It turns out the groom had really wanted them to get dressed up as characters from Star Wars, but the bride wasn't as keen on the idea. So, the bride arranged to have the officiant get dressed up instead as a surprise to her groom. Jeremy Postal (Whistler Wedding Pastor) was totally up for it and secretly got into costume using the ...

I was so excited about this Sea to Sky Gondola wedding! A little mist added a magical feeling to the ride up the gondola. Surrounded by clouds, our plan to hit some great viewpoints during the couple's portrait session had to be revised and we decided to take advantage of the forest's natural beauty instead. We also planned to come back another day when the sun was shinning to get the photos the bride had been dreaming about. It was well worth the extra trip (you can see those photos here). ...

I don't even know where to start with this wedding...I know I've used the word "epic" to describe this wedding before and it totally fits.  From the couple's personalities to the mountaintop ceremony, everything about this wedding was epic! Ann Marie and Marco are beyond sweet and full of spunk.  We hit it off the moment we met.  It's like we were meant for each other...seriously!  I knew they had this incredible vision for their Whistler Mountain wedding, a place that has special meaning to them since Marco proposed here.  The logistics around getting them up the Whistler gondola to do a ...

It's those authentic everyday moments that I find stick with me the most. I'm happy to offer 3 types of sessions: A Slice of Life, A Day in the Life and We're Expecting. We absolutely fell in love with this couple! They somehow managed to maintain their easy-going, laid-back personalities throughout their entire wedding day. This is my adorable little nephew.  I absolutely love him to bits!  I got this shot recently and I'm torn between the colour version and the black & white one. I love the colour one for the obvious reason - his gorgeous blue eyes!  But I'm also drawn to the B&W version because the colour of his shirt and the dog bowls in the background are less distracting (yes, he might have gotten into the dog's food...) Our website's getting a major overhaul, so I figured I should do one more blog post before we're not allowed to update it for a few weeks... We had a blast working with this couple.  The initial plan involved photos on the chairlift with sweeping mountain views and mountain biking...in their wedding clothes!  Their plans evolved and changed a bit, but a chairlift ride was an absolute must.  We ordered a picture perfect blue-bird day and apparently Mother Nature didn't get our order. Rockwater Secret Cove Resort on the Sunshine Coast is such a magical setting for a wedding!  This was our first Jewish ceremony which made the day even more memorable for us.  The flower girl helping the bride get dressed is one of my all-time favourite series of images - she was so determined to do a great job lacing up her dress! ...

Jenny + Dave
Jenny + Dave
Another super fun couple - sure I say this all the time, but we really do get to work with the best couples! It all started with the bride getting ready at her parents' home with all her girls.  The beautiful rooftop ceremony was held at the Inn at the Quay in New Westminster.  Then we headed out for a whirlwind tour of New Westminster, stopping at Antiques Row, Queen's Park (and the baseball diamond where the couple first met!) and a few other prime locations we scouted out before the wedding. The day was filled with laughter and we feel so privileged ...

Vanessa + Steve
This was our first wedding at Kirkland House and all I can say is WOW - what a beautiful venue!  It was a perfect day and spirits were high as the sun came out.  The wedding party was a blast and the bride and groom were up for anything, trusting us completely.  With a couple hours for photos between the ceremony and the reception, we got the opportunity to go to a few different locations making for a great mix of pretty and romantic shots combined with a more urban feel. ...

Erin and Brandt
Erin and Brandt
What a treat to be able to shoot a wedding in North Vancouver!  Erin & Brandt travelled all the way from Arizona to have their dream wedding on Grouse Mountain. They were so many wonderful things about this wedding - a chance to do urban and nature shots in one day, a stunning chapel for the ceremony, wicked views from Grouse Mountain, beautifully designed details (the groom did all the graphic design work himself) and the most incredible candy bar! And did I mention the couple and their family and friends?  They were an absolute delight to spend the day with! Getting Ready: Pinnacle ...

Winter Whistler Elopement
Winter Whistler Elopement
We get asked to do a handful of Whistler elopements every year and we love them!   The weather didn't dampen this couple's spirits - rain in the valley means snow on the mountains. This particular couple wanted to get married in the Peak to Peak gondola in their ski gear - it was an epic day and they didn't want to miss out on the fresh powder! While we love how intimate these gondola ceremonies are, it's a pretty tight space, especially with a few guests.  With Tim and I both shooting, we get two angles simultaneously without having to move ...

Cedar View Estate Wedding
Cedar View Estate Wedding
This couple planned a lovely intimate winter wedding at Cedar View Estate in Pemberton.  There was a lot of snow in Pemberton this winter, but the bride and groom really wanted beautiful outdoor portraits.  So, we brought our snowshoes and were ready for an adventure.  We didn't need them in the end and a good ol' pair of rubber boots under the bride's wedding dress did the trick. A traditional Korean tea ceremony was a fun way to end the day.  Apparently the number of chestnuts and figs the bride catches in her skirt is an indication of the number of the ...

Tiffany + Jack – Winter Wedding
Tiffany + Jack – Winter Wedding
This is the first of a bunch of winter weddings I've been working on.  It was a beautiful sunny day after a week of non-stop snow.  The cold weather didn't phase the bride and groom who travelled from Colorado for their destination wedding in Whistler.  In fact, the groom even went skiing the morning of the wedding! I love what Marcie from Bliss Event & Design did with the flowers - vibrant shades of orange, pink and purple popped against the snowy backdrop.  This was the perfect winter wedding! Wedding Wire: Tricia + Garth
Wedding Wire: Tricia + Garth
We get so excited every time a bridal blog picks up one of our weddings.  This time around, it's Wedding Wire.  For one thing, it means we did a great job photographing the wedding!  It also means that all the time and energy put into planning the wedding paid off.  Whether it's a super creative and talented DIY bride (this bride made the ring pillow, invites, menus, jewellery boxes all herself), or beautifully executed flowers and decor (notice the pine cone theme carried throughout the decor and flowers), or an amazing cake, all the little details that were carefully considered are ...

Farley – Squamish Pet Photography
This is our new puppy Farley.  I now completely understand why puppies are so cute...because they're little terrors that chew your favourite slippers, eat the remote control just before the hockey game is about to start (so you can't get to the right channel) and jump on your head early in the morning to get you out of bed.  All I have to do is look at that little face and all is forgiven! ...

Wedding Wire Top 10 Bouquet Inspirations
We work with the most incredibly talented and creative people!  Everything about Lisa & Stuart's wedding was amazing!  The floral design was phenominal, so much so that the bride's bouquet was picked by Wedding Wire as being one of 2010's top ten inspirational bouquets.  The couple worked closely with Roxanne Cave of Celebrate Events to put together their vision for an elegant, rustic, mountain wedding.  Rembrandt Designs saw the vision through with this stunning take on a bouquet inspired by the colours of fall. Working with some of the best people in our industry is so rewarding and we're so happy for ...

Introducing little Adam...less than 2 weeks old and absolutely adorable!  You might think from the photos that he slept for most of the session...nope, he was awake pretty much the entire time.  He was very curious and didn't want to miss out on anything. Lisa + Stuart
Lisa + Stuart
The recipe for the perfect wedding: start with a wonderful couple, add the love of family & friends and finish it off with beautifully designed flowers & decor at a great venue. Lisa and Stuart were so excited to have an outdoor wedding ceremony in Whistler.  When the weather didn't cooperate, they put their faith in their planner (Roxanne Cave of Celebrate Events) and an intimate candlelit ceremony indoors was organized instead.  This was one stylish wedding.  If I could go back in time and redo my own wedding, this is the kind of wedding I would want, including the bride's dress! How do I describe this wedding...a whole lot of fun!  There were pranks.  Have you ever been "Iced"?  Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about.  Everywhere we looked, people were being "Iced" - even the bride and groom managed to pull one over on each other.  There were a few tears - before, during and after the ceremony. And there was hot sauce - what a brilliant idea for personalized favours! An update on Adi
An update on Adi
People have been afraid to ask how Adi is doing and I realized I never posted an update.  Adi's recovery has the vets dumbfounded and us delighted.  He has full use of his front leg again and his tumour has shrunken down so much that it's barely noticeable. He spent all of last summer hobbling around on three legs, so this summer he's been running and bouncing as much as he can - things we never thought he would be able to enjoy again.  His big dumb grin is back and he's loving life! Thanks to everyone for all your support throughout these hard ...

My favourite colour is red.  So when we met Shelby and Mike and found out that he was RCMP and would be wearing red, I was thrilled!  This was our first wedding at the Whistler Golf Course and I can't say enough good things about the ceremony site.  It's probably one of the prettiest spots in Whistler. We did a first look at Nita Lake Lodge and even the couple's new puppy got in on the action (including sneaking a nibble of the flowers!) We had so much fun with everyone at this wedding...and did I mention that I love red? ...

This is a perfect example of why rain can be a good thing on your wedding day, especially when you have a fun and willing couple!  We pulled out our arsenal of white umbrellas and had a blast with family and friends at their Furry Creek wedding.  Little did we know how many comedians were in the family and how much we would laugh!  The adorable ring bearer definitely stole the show.  We were pretty lucky when the rain let up and the sun peeked out just in time for a few portraits with the bride and groom.  The girls' make-up was ...

We couldn't have picked a more beautiful spring day for this couple's engagement session.  We were so happy when the couple agreed to do a split session - part of the session took place around Whistler Village and we all went up Whistler Mountain for the rest of the session.  They were open to everything we suggested and even climbed a pretty steep slope for a dramatic snow and sky shot (5th photo down). When you plan a winter wedding in Whistler, you never know what you're gonna get...weather wise!  It was a bit snowy and a bit blowy, but spirits were high for this Peak to Peak Gondola wedding.  What a stylish couple - the bride was absolutely stunning in her faux fur coat and hat.  Needless to say they stood out from the regular skiing/snowboarding crowd.  The intimate and emotional ceremony was held on a glass-bottomed gondola.  Marcie at Bliss Events did a wonderful job with the bouquet and boutonniere. ...
